Meet the Artist
She works with classic knitting and experimental techniques and loves unusual recycled materials. The repetitive and meditative processes of knitting, felt making, crocheting, coiling, and hand sewing are her ways of manifesting her artistic voice and defining her artistic language. She is inspired by organic forms, nature, trees, birds, and the human body –that to her represent the entwined relationships between birth and death. She also feels connected to the millions of people who work with their hands to create something out of nothing.
She loves sharing her joy of working with yarn, exploring, and creating with the endless possibilities of knitting and crocheting. “It is always wonderful to work with kindred spirits and to encourage their innate creativity.”, says Lori.

Lori is wonderful - I wish I could give her more than five stars. We worked each day at her studio table, surrounded by yarns, tools, and Lori’s own art. She is the most generous of teachers. She gave me new technical skills, guidance for designing projects, and shared ways of thinking about art and an artist’s life. She read aloud to me each day from books in her library. This time with Lori was just what I needed. She supported my current art work while giving me ideas on how to expand. She was friendly and generous with her space, her time and her experience.

My time with Lori was quite memorable, starting with a welcome gift of lavender from her garden and ending with my completed fiber art project! Along the way I learned new fiber techniques (crocheting) and perfected some already familiar ones (knitting).
It was all very fun!
