Meet the Artist

Sujatha is a Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam and Odissi dancer who's been performing, teaching and choreographing for three decades. She is also a professional Carnatic singer and director of a fine arts academy, founded by her mother Jayashree in 1976, where she's trained hundreds of dancers over the past 25 years. Sujatha's own training started at a very young age under her mother. She later received training from some of the doyens in the field like Guru Kalanidhi Narayan, Guru Mahalingam Pillai, Guru Kathiruvelu Pillai, Prof. Kalmandalam Leelamma, and T.R. Balamani. One of her favorite thing is to take students to old temples in Coimbatore, to learn and get inspired from the old text that classical dancers follow. It's a special treat!
