Astro Art: How Your Chart Can Inform Your Artistic Expression

What happens when you find inspiration for your art in your chart? Air signs are drawn to open spaces, wings, and black and white. Taurus is attracted to flowers and Capricorn to rocks. Leo has a liking for strong colors. In this session, we will integrate astrology and art. 

On Sunday, May 30th at 11AM EST, join VAWAA artist and art educator, Annette, for a fun session comparing some famous artists' charts to the art they made. Through a lively interactive presentation, we will learn how the alchemy of signs, planets, and houses reveals a specific artistic expression. By looking at the charts and art of Vincent Van Gogh and Wassily Kandinsky, we can gain deeper insight into what interested them and motivated them to create their art and use the imagery we see in their work.

Bring your astro chart (download for free) and some images of your artworks. After the presentation, it'll be your turn. Enjoy a shared moment of cosmic and creative introspection before we discuss our findings.

This session requires a basic knowledge of astrology (signs, planets, houses). Get ready for some amazing discoveries! Joining us from a different time zone than EST? Be sure to convert the time.

What you'll need

• Images of your own artwork
• Your astrological chart made (for free) at www.astro.com (you need your birth time; if you don’t have it, use 12PM which is in the middle of the day you were born)
  Have the image of your chart and artworks on a powerpoint/ keynote slide so you can easily share with others during the session.

We'll be hosting this VAWAA Online on Zoom. We'll send the link and details to join via email 1 day and again 1 hour before it begins.

About Annette

Annette is a collage and photomontage artist based in Athens' beautiful countryside. Trained in prestigious art schools in United States, France, Austria, and Greece, she has been focusing on collage, photomontage, and mixed media for three decades. Led by a passion for theatre and the human soul, her photo montages look like "film stills" of human relationships and are made with scissors, glue, found photographs, or photographs taken by her. She creates collage portraits that are deconstructions of familiar everyday faces to shed light into the sinews of their being. She strives to merge fantasy and reality in each composition to lead us to the dreamland of human emotions. Dostoyevsky, Ibsen, Bergman, and Hitchcock inspire her, as well as collage artists like Hannah Hoch, Max Ernst, Martha Rosler, and John Stezaker.
