The Blur in Black & White Photography

Live from Amsterdam, Netherlands

VAWAA artist Tatjana is a well known photographer, architect, teacher and a radio show host. She works with digital and analogue 35mm cameras, and specializes in black and white portraits, architecture, outdoor conceptual and theater performance photography. With a lifelong fascination for light, she believes that black & white photography is the most appropriate medium to express the essence of a narrative. In her words "I spend hours walking along canals, catching secrets beyond words that this amazing city whispers to me. In this fairy-tale environment, everything counts and blends into a magic potion."

Join her on Friday, July 17, at 12 PM EDT, for an interactive 60 minute talk and live demonstration on blur techniques in black and white photography. She'll introduce us to its history and meanings and we'll take a look at how famous photographers use the blur effect. Then, we'll learn about the techniques she uses with her camera and lenses — bokeh, selective focus, and motion blur — as well as understand the role of shades and contrast. Of course, we'll be able to ask her any questions! Inspiration awaits & all levels are welcome. Limited to 20 participants.
