Develop Your Own Color Palette

Live from Philadelphia, United States

Ever been swept away by the yellow eccentricity of a Wes Anderson film or marvelled at the dreamy blue hues of a Monet painting, and wondered what your own distinct color palette would consist of?

VAWAA artist and figurative painter Clarissa has 20 years of experience as a scenic artist in film and television. On Saturday January 8th at 1PM EST, she'll be joining us to look at color as language, and be a guide as we develop our own.

We'll lay the foundations with some basic color theory, and learn how to mix colors. Clarissa will then take us through an image slideshow along with some guided imagery exercises to explore how color affects our mood, feelings, associations... as well as how color can be a sensory experience. Using this knowledge, we'll use our choice of paints and develop our own color palette.

This comprehensive and fun session will help you find how best to use color as your own language.

All levels are welcome. There will be plenty of time to share, get feedback and meet other participants from around the world.

If you are not in EST time zone, be sure to convert the time.

What you'll need

  • Paint of any type - blue, red, yellow, white, black, green, purple, orange
  • Paper, or canvas board to paint on
  • Small brushes
  • Notebook for note taking

How to join

We'll be hosting this VAWAA Online on Zoom. We'll send link and details to join via email 1 day and again 1 hour before it begins.
