Step-by-Step: Dancing Argentine Tango

Tango is about connecting with one's own expression and discovering the relationship with others through a musical and emotional body language. Sophisticated, beautiful, dynamic and so much fun -- this is the perfect opportunity for those who’ve always dreamt about learning tango or wanted to visit Argentina to learn it! 

This 60-minute session is designed so you can join without a partner, or as a couple. Limited to 12 participants.

On Sunday, June 21, at 2 PM EDT, join VAWAA Artist Viviana, a social tango instructor and performer since 1993, born and raised in the tango capital of Buenos Aires. She has founded tango groups, taught classes, organized milongas and performed across Argentina, US and Europe. As a teacher, she is known for her charisma and infectious energy, making tango accessible to a wide audience by distilling its essentials.

We'll start with an introduction to the magic of tango, discussing how it came about as an international movement, as well as gender roles, and differences between social tango and show tango styles. Then, practice simple movements, steps, changes of direction, and postures with Viviana demonstrating live. She'll watch us practice and give feedback (yes, it works beautifully on zoom!). We'll listen to tango music and learn how to connect gracefully to it with different parts of the body. It will be a lot of fun for all levels!
