Germany > > > with Sonia in Spain
I joined the four-day esparto weaving workshop with Sonia in Mijas because I was looking for something more than just learning a craft. I wanted to slow down, connect with Spanish culture, and explore new forms of expression through my hands - something that felt both traditional and alive. I hoped to find a balance between art and everyday beauty, between creation and calm. We worked with esparto grass, learning its textures and history, and even made paper from it - a beautiful reminder of how art and nature can blend. Through her teaching, I didn’t just learn a skill; I also felt part of something much older and more meaningful. Sonia has a wonderful way of seeing you - not just as a student, but as a person and a creative soul.
By the end of the workshop, I had a beautiful handmade piece of weaving and unique pieces of paper - tangible reminders of the experience. What I’ll carry forever are the memories, the calm joy of creating, and the connection with Sonia, a truly kind and inspiring soul.
