I wanted to study with a master printer who would help me advance my block printing knowledge specifically with regards to use of natural dyes and application to cotton, silk and wool fibre. I also wanted to find raw products in the market to bring home such as dye materials and fabric. Finally, I wanted to bring home some finished pieces to show to clients.

I came in each day with a list of questions. We had long talks about dyeing methods and how to adapt them to my own workshop at home. I looked forward to our morning talks. One of the men in the shop took me on shopping excursions in Mumbai to purchase a copper dye pot, dry plant materials for dyeing and affordable silk and cotton. I was able to finish 2 pieces and purchased some finished work to bring home to show clients as the quality of the work produced in this workshop was first class.
