Mallory & Bennett

My friend and I did the workshop with Loretta & Marlene back in February of this year. It was a wonderful experience. It is truly special to be able to learn this quilting technique from two women who were raised in the tradition of Gee's Bend quilting and to fully appreciate the history of the place. Loretta and Marlene could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. It was lovely to sit in their studio having coffee and listening to the radio while experiencing the meditative rhythm of quilting. We each worked with one of the ladies to piece the front of our quilts, which was an intuitive and creative aspect that I really love about the Gee's Bend way of quilting. Both of our quilts now hang proudly in our homes, and we will cherish the memory of the trip forever.
