I had already booked a stay in Marrakech when I came across VAWAA. The moment I saw Soumiya's experience I booked it. I thrive on new experiences and learning new things so learning some weaving on top of experiencing Morocco for the first time was amazing. I can't recommend highly enough this way of connecting with people in a different land. I spoke French the entire week, I made several friends, I had experiences I would never have had if I had not done this. I learned so much about Marrakech from talking to Soumiya and others. It can be intimidating to try new things, but it is the only way to grow as a person and as an artist.

I have yet to realize the true value of this experience - I'm going to need some time and perspective. As a person who teaches art to others I know that this experience is going to enrich my own art practice and my teaching! I can't wait to get going on new projects inspired by what I have seen and learned here.
