My main current interest was to learn how to manipulate clay, to understand the process of building internal armatures, coil and pinch methods, slip applications and kiln firing. My secondary interests were to explore textile knots and dying techniques from Mexico.
I had been able to experiment in the past with limestone, plaster and tadelakt in Morocco and with natural dyes in Peru. And I think that there is a very organic conversation between Moroccan art, Peruvian art and Mexican art. Not only in the use of similar materials but also in the sensibility of their intricate designs.
The results far exceeded my expectations. It wasn't just about technical growth, but also learning how to navigate and overcome my own creative blocks.
Thank you, Majo 🙌
