I had a spontaneous bit of time to do a week of solo travel, and wanted something unique. In the past, I've thoroughly loved solo travel, but wanted a more immersive way to get to know a place. Having visited Oaxaca before in the past, I was blown away by its rich folk art traditions, and I knew this was something I'd love to dive deeper into beyond just museums and shops. Overall, I left my trip with a great woven rug, lots of hands-on experience, and a deeper appreciation for both the skills of artisans and the convenience of mechanized production. The most resonant takeaway was the rich palette of endemic natural resources. I hope that this enthusiasm piques my creativity and curiosity at home, to think about different ways of seeing my natural environment.
