I chose VAWAA as a way to connect & support local artists. As a US citizen, I am aware of our role in colonizing and the ways the tourist economy can push out locals and artists from their own cities. VAWAA is a way to keep artists in their vibrant communities and support their work all while getting to make real human connections. It is a win win! As an artist, it was also is inspiring to connect and share creativity with other creatives in places around the world. This builds global creative community at a time we need it most!

 I am inspired to open my own studio and perhaps become a VAWAA artist myself. It makes me want to travel this way in the future! I am already looking at programs in India!
