Who knew that googling "sculpture + donkey + galicia" would bring me to Iria's magical home and studio?! I was delighted to discover VAWAA online, and to specifically spend time with Iria at Castelo Studio, the beloved donkey Lucas, and another lovely Ukrainian artist, Lera, that Iria also welcomed with open arms.

I absolutely loved learning more about the paper mache clay process, as it is a very accessible medium (and affordable!) that I can easily replicate for various projects and hopefully teach in the future. Her home is an art museum and a veritable library of inspiration, and you will leave with a treasure trove of ideas. But this was exactly my problem--leaving! I am already planning my next visit to Castelo Studio, and with some extra carrots for Lucas.
