Meet the Artist
Andrea is an illustrator and screen printer who tells stories through her art on ceramics, fabric, paper, and cyanotype. Her work is inspired by the sea, rural life, and stories of people living on the Island of Arousa.
Her grandfather was a sailor on this Atlantic island who loved from his heart. He inspired her to trust in life and pursue art with an open heart and no fear. She transformed her family home into a place for creativity and a refuge for silkscreen lovers. She describes it as a place for those who still wake up every day and think they have something to tell, discover, and above all, feel like they want to do it.
For her, it's about sharing and drawing, getting your hands dirty, and not caring about the result because you're so happy enjoying the process that you discover what matters. You understand that going slower is not being late and that betting on yourself and your happiness is the only "successful pursuit."

There is wifi, a cozy lounge, a full kitchen, and three bedrooms. You can choose to stay in the large room with a double bed, a single room with a bed and a drawing table or a room with two twin beds. The atelier has a garden and a lemon tree at the back of the house. There is also ample new space on the second floor to create. The environment is peaceful and close to downtown, beaches, a greengrocer, a supermarket, a cafe, a pharmacy, and a medical center. Breakfast is included with your stay, and you can use the kitchen for other meals.
Explore Illa de Arousa
Andrea lives on a small Atlantic island in southern Galicia, Spain, not too far from Portugal. Its Atlantic coastline is a natural reserve with spectacular white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The natural park, where the wood ends at sea, is ideal for hiking or bird watching. The main port has a great fishing tradition, fish markets, and a seafront promenade for eating and strolling. This island and rural life are always present in Andrea’s work. An idyllic destination to go slowly, but not slower. To let go and find yourself.

Andrea was amazing as a teacher and host. Her love of her island was infectious. Illa de arousa will always be an important memory for me. The art that she helped me create was a tremendous step in my learning. This was as good an art travel experience as one could get.

There are no words that can adequately describe my residency with Andrea. Suffice it to say that I would rate it as one of my top three travel experiences.
I arrived at the residency with no prior experience with silk screening or ceramics. Andrea was a welcoming and patient teacher. Her approach was playful and encouraging. She loves her craft and gets a lot of joy from helping you fulfill yo Read more
