Meet the Artist

Emilie and Victor are French mosaic artists with a passion for creativity and innovation. They honed their skills at the world-renowned school of mosaics i in Italy, where they learned the historical and contemporary techniques of mosaic making using the finest materials. Now, they call France home, working from Emilie’s studio just steps away from a Gallo-Roman villa with rare ancient mosaic flooring.

Emilie's work spans from wall and floor decorations to micro-mosaic jewelry and sculptures. She creates pictures in Roman, Byzantine, and Classic styles, but her expertise lies in contemporary techniques and the limitless possibilities of materials. Her contemporary style is a break from traditional mosaics, as she explores curved, rounded, and wavy surfaces. This approach allows her to uncover the natural magic within stones, crystals, and other materials like Venetian enamels, golds, and blown glass. Her mosaics are a symphony of colors, textures, light reflections, and fluid movements. She uses a variety of Italian materials, such as gold leaf, smalti Orsoni, marble, semi-precious stones, and wood, to bring her artistic vision to life.

Victor’s contemporary take on mosaic chases a feeling of unfolding the earth’s thickness. His work blends art and design, exploring the poetry of stone by mobilizing the viewer’s senses of touch and sight. His use of natural, stone-based materials aims to trigger a feeling of connectedness with soil. In tandem, Victor enhances his mosaic practice with stucco-marmo, an ancient Italian technique used to make faux marble.

Both Emilie and Victor work with original Roman tools, like the martellina hammer, to bring a unique touch to their mosaics that allows for greater artistic expression. Emilie and Victor are deeply committed to preserving and sharing traditional art techniques and look forward to sharing them with you. They view mosaic as a universal language, capable of bringing people together and promoting harmony in their lives.

This experience resulted in learning multiple skills and processes related to mosaics and creating a beautiful piece. I still can't believe it happened in just four or five days! Additionally, I experienced even more aspects of French culture than my other trips to the country which was really special. It was a gift to me after completing my PhD. I only had one expectation, and that was to learn h Read more
