Meet the Artist

Jesse is a sculptural jewelry artist and teacher. Having a mother who weaves and a father that does woodwork, Jesse started working with his hands at a very early age. He developed a deep interest in intricate metal work during 3 internships in high school and decided to formally study jewelry and metalsmithing for 7 years. Before moving to Seattle, he spent 14 years living in Mexico and teaching around the world creating artworks with copper, silver, steel, porcelain, bark, plastic, used and repurposed materials. He also creates unique fine handmade tools and equipment that give his work distinction through delicate texture and design. Continuing to be a part of collaborative environments where teaching and learning is always present on some level is very important to him. One of his favorite quotes is “The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.” - Stephen McCranie. When you visit, you'll learn that in addition to being a maker, he also knows a lot about bees and loves exploring outside with his eyes always open for the possibility to collect unique, dynamic materials for his work.

Explore Three Tree Point, Seattle

About a 25 minute drive from Seattle in the small maritime village of Three Tree Point, Jesse’s studio sits on a bluff above the picturesque Puget Sound. Historically known as a trading spot on local Native American trails, Three Tree Point was an old time ferry gateway. Guests can still walk the beautifully preserved trails which weave in between the gardens of local houses and are graced by the surrounding beauty of enormous Northwest conifers. The studio patio has a view of Vashon Island and the Maury Island lighthouse, and guests can watch the many boats that pass through the Sound each day. There is excellent hiking in the nearby mountains, arboretum, and countless parks. Guests can enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, and island hopping by ferry. Depending on the season, one might see a bald eagle, hear seals barking, or on a clear day catch an incredible glimpse of the Olympic Mountains, Cascade Range, or the towering Mt. Rainier.

This is an amazing experience. As an instructor, Jesse is knowledgeable and very giving. His willingness to work with a teen novice was very appreciated! Beyond jewelry making, Jesse and his partner are very gracious hosts - offering lunch each day, tour guide services around Seattle and a unique tour of his cousin's neon art shop.

You are in for a treat if you choose to work with Jesse in San Miguel de Allende. Jesse is that extraordinary and rare combination of highly accomplished and skilled artist and excellent teacher. He is unfailingly patient, calm and whenever I felt confused or uncertain about something I was learning, he came up with several ways to approach a solution. At every moment, I was supported as well as Read more
