I don't consider a vacation a success unless I learn something new, so VAWAA was absolutely a perfect match for me, plus I was able to fulfill the goal of experiencing Dia de los Muertos in Mexico. Normally I attend ceramics workshops, because my work is clay sculpture. I chose this VAWAA because I wanted to learn more about metal, especially casting, so that I could possibly move towards bronze sculpture and also to learn a new medium to augment my pieces. My expectations were wildly exceeded. 

Jesse and what I learned from him was inspirational. Oddly enough, I discovered that while I enjoyed and will use what I learned about metal, especially enameling, I found out, in creating a wooden piece to use for a mold, that I really enjoy carving wood. I see adding both metal and wood to my pieces in the future.
