I had a great time working with Roberto in his studio in Majorca, Spain. Roberto is an excellent ceramicist, and a patient teacher, especially using the wheel, which can be very challenging! My goal in spending time at his studio was to better understand how to design different pieces from an architectural standpoint, and then to create the pieces using different techniques, like slab and wheel. Roberto was very helpful in conceptualizing the pieces, and then designing and building them. We talked a lot about how the ceramic piece can be viewed by the visitor, an area of ceramics (or art overall) that I have not thought about very much; so his advice and our discussions were excellent and really important to me. I really appreciate the time and attention that Roberto spent with me and I hope to stay in touch with him as I continue down my journey.
