I am a silk screen printmaker and had traveled last year to Oaxaca,MX for a residency there. While visiting the city, I was  amazed by the prolific and gorgeous linocut printmaking scene that is flourishing there. As I was reading about VAWAA learning opportunities, I was excited to discover an option for linocut, broadening my skills, learning more about this form of printmaking in an intensive with Artemio.I also appreciated meeting Artemio's apprentice, Cheleo, and his family. Being in a smaller town in Mexico, without many tourists is a powerful and transformative experience. Being in an unfamiliar place, getting lost, making mistakes on occasion, and seeing the world with fresh eyes is important at any age. Traveling brings awareness of my limitations and strengthens my trust in the goodness of people.
