This is my second VAWAA experience and both were excellent. I chose this one because I’ve been wanting to add embroidery and beading to my acrylic paintings. The technique is very different. Everything from choosing the canvas and preparing it, to the application of paint is very different than just using acrylic on canvas. Katy taught me how to combine the mediums for a successful outcome.

It has ignited a new level of enthusiasm for my art practice. Her extensive knowledge and wide range of experience make her a wonderful teacher. She is also a lovely human!!!

In addition to the embroidery on acrylic, she taught me the nicest way to journal with textiles and beads. I did this in the evenings.  

We spent our last day, (I added an extra day), exploring her watercolour techniques. Another game changer for me. Overall my art is exploding as a result of this VAWAA. I can’t wait to get in my studio everyday.
